Adolf Zauner
Adolf Zauner (born May 22, 1870 in Vienna , † August 4, 1940 in Graz ) was an Austrian Romance philologist and linguist.
life and work
Adolf Zauner was a student of Wilhelm Meyer-Lübke . He completed his habilitation at the University of Vienna with The Romance Names of Body Parts. An onomasiological study (in: Romanische Forschungen 14, 1903, pp. 339-530, Reproduction New York 1967). Zauner was the originator of the term " onomasiology ".
From 1911 to 1939 Zauner was full professor for Romance philology at the University of Graz , 1936/37 also rector and 1937/38 prorector.
