Martin Hummel

Martin Hummel (born May 14, 1960 ) is a German Romance studies and university professor. His main research interests are the French , Portuguese and Spanish languages ​​with questions regarding their semantics , syntax , word formation, stylistics and text linguistics .

Live and act

From 1981 to 1991, Hummel studied Romance philology , political science and economics at the Philipps University in Marburg . During his studies in 1985 he obtained the “Certificat d'Etudes Politiques” at the Institut d'études politiques in Paris . His doctorate followed in 1991 in Romance Philology (French, Portuguese, Spanish and political science). He was u. a. with Christina Ossenkop a student of the German Romanist , Hispanic , Lusitanist and university professor Dieter Woll . From 1993 to 1998 he was initially a research assistant at the Institute for Romance Philology at the Philipps University in Marburg, where he obtained his habilitation in 1998, when he received the Venia legendi for Romance Philology.

Subsequently he was appointed professor for Romance Linguistics (French / Spanish) at the Gerhard-Mercator-Universität-GH in Duisburg , 1998 to 2000, and finally a call to the TU Dresden where he taught as Professor for Romance Linguistics from 2000-2001 researched. Since 2001 he has held the post of professor for Romance studies II at the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz .
