Klaus Koehler-Achenbach

Klaus Köhler-Achenbach (born September 4, 1912 in Frankfurt am Main , † 1988 in Düsseldorf ) was a German painter and draftsman.

Life

Klaus (also Claus) Köhler-Achenbach, a great-grandson of Andreas Achenbach , studied in Berlin at the School of Applied Arts , from which the United State Schools (VS) emerged , under Max Kaus and Hans Orlowski and at the Prussian Academy of the Arts under Renée Sintenis . During his studies in Berlin he made friends with the budding doctor and sculptor Wolfgang Stock . In Berlin-Friedenau Köhler-Achenbach made then as a freelance painter and commercial artist independently.

After the Second World War , in 1945, almost at the same time as Werner Heuser , he was appointed professor at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he gave workshops with Joseph Beuys in the 1960s . His former art school student, Ihsan Ece , who graduated in 1978, said of him, “His strength was drawing and life drawing. I learned a lot from him. [...] We had loved each other. I became a master student in his class. "
