Klaus Kuchling

Klaus Kuchling (born February 17, 1963 in St. Veit an der Glan ) is an Austrian organist and conductor .

Life

After his first lessons with Joze Ropitz, Klaus Kuchling received his first organ lessons at the Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt with Annemarie Groysbeck-Fheodoroff. He then studied church music, instrumental pedagogy, composition and concert organ at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna , with Peter Planyavsky and Alfred Mitterhofer among his teachers.

Until 1990 Kurchling worked as an organist and choirmaster at the parish church of St. Elisabeth in Vienna's 4th district of Wieden . From 1989 to 1994 he was director of the Norbert Artner Chamber Choir and during this time conducted several major works of choral and orchestral literature such as Joseph Haydn's Creation , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem , Georg Friedrich Handel's Dettinger Te Deum , Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms and various others Cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach . Since 1992 he has held the position of cathedral organist at Klagenfurt Cathedral . In this context, his musical activity is not limited to the organ area, but also working with various ensembles is part of his field of activity. From autumn 1998 to spring 2018, Kuchling led the Carinthian Madrigal Choir Klagenfurt.

Klaus Kuchling has been teaching since 1988 as part of diocesan organ courses, and since 1989 he has been teaching the subjects of organ, improvisation, liturgical organ and chamber music at the Carinthian State Conservatory . In addition, from 1996 to 2013 he worked as assistant to Peter Planyavsky at the Vienna University of Music until his retirement.
