Klaus Wagenleiter

Klaus Wagenleiter (born June 5, 1956 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ) is a German jazz pianist and music producer .

Life

After his school days at the Hellenstein-Gymnasium Heidenheim , Wagenleiter had private lessons at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts from 1977 to 1979 and at the same time worked as a pianist and arranger at the Stuttgart State Theater . He played with his trio at festivals in Stuttgart, Heidelberg and Frankfurt am Main before studying at the Berklee College of Music from 1980 to 1982 . In Boston he played with Mike Stern , Bob Mover and Alan Dawson .

Back in Germany he worked for Erwin Lehn , Dieter Reith and Charly Antolini , but also played with Wolfgang Schmid , Anne Haigis , Toots Thielemans , Rainer Pusch , Gustl Mayer and Biréli Lagrène , with whom he recorded two albums and went on an international tour. In addition, he founded his own trio, to which Thomas Stabenow and Harald Rüschenbaum belonged for a time.

He is also active as a pianist and musical director of the SWR Big Band , where he is also responsible for the “dance party” albums of the ensemble. He recorded with Gabriele Hasler , Ernie Watts , Bill Ramsey and Wilson de Oliveira . He accompanied Udo Jürgens , Ute Lemper and Mario Adorf on their tours. He is also active in the studio as a keyboardist, singer and producer and can be heard on more than 130 albums.
