Klaus Wolf (politician)
Klaus Wolf (born August 12, 1938 in Fuchshain near Grimma ) is a former German politician . He was Minister for Post and Telecommunications in the GDR .
Life
The son of a self-employed master blacksmith completed an apprenticeship as a blacksmith from 1952 to 1955 . In 1952 he became a member of the FDJ and in 1956 he joined the Eastern CDU . From 1956 to 1957 he was a clerk at the council of the community of Rüssen and briefly at the council of the district of Schmölln . From 1956 to 1965 he worked as CDU district secretary for Schmölln in the Leipzig district association .
In 1965, Wolf completed his correspondence course as a state-certified farmer (graduate economist) at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management . From 1970 to 1977 he was deputy chairman for trade and supply at the council of the Döbeln district , then he was appointed (1977) as deputy chairman for energy, transport and communications at the council of the Leipzig district and a member of the Leipzig district assembly . From October 1982 to 1989 he was also a member of the main board and from December 1989 to 1990 of the party board of the Eastern CDU. From October 1987 to December 1989 he was a member of the presidium of the main board of the Eastern CDU.
In 1985 he was promoted to Dr. rer. oec. PhD. In 1986 he was appointed deputy minister for transport, responsible for tourism, and in March 1987 at the same time as chairman of the Central Commission for Foreign Tourism at the GDR Council of Ministers . He held these functions until the resignation of the Stoph government in November 1989. From 1986 to March 1990, as a member of the CDU parliamentary group, he was also a member of the People's Chamber .
On November 18, 1989, he was in the Modrow government as Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of the GDR called and Director General of the on 18 January 1990 Deutsche Post appointed. His work as minister ended on April 12, 1990 due to the results of the first free elections in the GDR on March 18, 1990, but Wolf still served in the de Maizière government as state secretary in the then Ministry of Post and Telecommunications.
Wolf is married and has three children.
