Klavs Hørlykke Bruun Jørgensen (born April 3, 1974 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a Danish handball player who also works as a handball coach. Bruun Jørgensen is married to handball player Rikke Hørlykke .
Career
Klavs Bruun Jørgensen began playing handball at Virum-Sorgenfri HK , where he met his future companions Ian Marko Fog and Christian Hjermind . He also made his debut in the Danish first division for the capital city and won the Danish championship in 1997. In 1998 the right back player moved to SG Wallau / Massenheim in the German handball league , but returned to Copenhagen after only one year. In 2003 he moved on to the top club GOG Svendborg TGI . There he won the Danish championship again in 2004 and 2007 and the Danish Cup in 2005. In 2007 he returned to his hometown Copenhagen for the last time, but this time he joined the up-and-coming FCK Håndbold. With the FCK he won the Danish championship in 2008.
Klavs Bruun Jørgensen has played 185 international matches for the Danish men's national handball team in his career . In the 2002 and 2004 he won bronze .
Klavs Bruun Jørgensen moved to AG Håndbold in summer 2009. After one season, Jørgensen ended his active career there and together with Søren Herskind took over the coaching position of the Danish first division club AG København , which was created in 2010 through the merger of AG Håndbold with FCK Håndbold . Under her leadership, AG København won the championship in 2011. From the summer of 2011, they formed a trainer trio together with Magnus Andersson . After negotiations about a contract extension had failed, Jørgensen ended his involvement with the club on October 4, 2011. In January 2012 he took over as coach of Nordsjælland Håndbold until the end of the season . He was then signed by Team Tvis Holstebro . In April 2015 he made his comeback with Team Tvis Holstebro, who had to do without several backcourt players due to injury. After the end of the 2014/15 season, he left Holstebro.
On November 24, 2013, the Dansk Håndbold Forbund announced that Klavs Bruun Jørgensen was replacing the Danish national team's co-trainer Henrik Kronborg during the 2014 European Handball Championship . On June 1, 2015, he took over as coach of the Danish women's national team . Since 2019 he has also been training the U13 team at Virum-Sorgenfri HK. In January 2020 Klavs Bruun Jørgensen ended his job as Danish national coach.
