Christian Hjermind (born July 25, 1973 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player . He is 1.85 m tall and weighs 86 kg.

Career

Christian Hjermind started playing handball at Virum-Sorgenfri HK , where he met his future companions Ian Marko Fog and Klavs Bruun Jørgensen . After moving to HIK Håndbold , he made his debut in 1994 in the Danish Håndboldligaen . The right winger quickly became one of the top performers of his team, became a national player and in the 1994/95 season the second top scorer in the league. In 1996 he actually wanted to switch to a top Danish club like KIF Kolding or GOG Gudme , but when the German club SG Flensburg-Handewitt asked and signed Hjermind. With the Fördestädtern he won the German runner-up in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000, the DHB Supercup in 2000 , the EHF Cup in 1997 , the City Cup in 1999 and the European Cup Winners ' Cup in 2001 ; In 1997 he was voted Danish handball player of the year.

Hjermind left Flensburg in 2001 and moved to BM Ciudad Real in the Spanish ASOBAL league . Here he won the Copa del Rey de Balonmano in 2003 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2002 and 2003. At the age of 30 he returned to his home country Denmark and was hired by KIF Kolding , where he was once again Danish champions in 2005 and 2006 and Danish cup winners in 2005 and 2007. During the 2007 season, his old employer, BM Ciudad Real, contacted him again: Hjermind's successor Mirza Džomba wanted to leave Ciudad Real in the summer of 2007 for Zagreb , but Luc Abalo , who had been scheduled to replace him, did not want to come until summer 2008. Hjermind agreed to help out for his old club again in the 2007/08 season.

Hjermind returned to Kolding in January 2008 as there were too many foreigners in the Ciudad Real squad and another winger could be signed in Roberto García Parrondo . From March 2008 he worked as a manager at KIF. Then Hjermind had ended his career as a player, but he was reactivated again in the 2008/09 season when KIF had to complain about several injuries-related failures. After the Dane won the Danish championship with KIF in 2009, he was only active as a manager. In November 2010 he gave up this position and started his own company.

Christian Hjermind played 170 international matches for the Danish men's national handball team in his career . In the statistics of the most goals for his country, he ranks fifth with 595 hits. He won bronze at the European Championships in 2002 and 2004 .
