Nagykanizsa small area

The Nagykanizsa small area (Hungarian Nagykanizsai kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) within Zala County in western Transdanubia until the end of 2012 . In the course of the administrative reform in 2013, all 27 localities were transferred to the subsequent Nagykanizsa district ( Nagykanizsai járás in Hungarian ), which was also reinforced by a total of 22 localities from the small area Pacsa and the small area Zalakaros .

At the end of 2012, 64,029 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​552.93 km². The population density of 116 inhabitants / km² and the number of inhabitants were both the second highest in the county.

The administrative seat was in the city of Nagykanizsa (49.070 Ew.), Which is legally equivalent to a county. The remaining 26 villages had an average population of 575.
