Zalaegerszeg small area

The small area Zalaegerszeg (Hungarian: Zalaegerszegi kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) within Zala County in western Transdanubia until the end of 2012 . In the course of the administrative reform of 2013, all 65 localities were transferred to the following district of Zalaegerszeg (Hungarian Zalaegerszegi járás ), which was expanded by 19 localities from the small areas of Lenti , Pacsa and Zalaszentgrót .

At the end of 2012 there were 93,201 inhabitants in an area of ​​788.65 km². Area, population and population density (118 inhabitants / km²) were the highest in the county.

The administrative seat was in the county capital Zalaegerszeg (59,618). The city also has county rights (Hungarian megyei jogú város ). The second most populous place was the city of Zalalövő with 3,058 inhabitants. The 63 remaining municipalities had an average population of 485.
