history
The municipality of Zalaháshágy is located 25 km to the northwest from the district town of Zalaegerszeg , between the area of the rivers Zala and Raab on the border of the Komiate Vas and Zala. The village was built on the south-western slope of the Kemeneshát Mountains.
The lands were first ruled by the Háshágyi family , then the Nádasdy family and finally the Bessenyei family (dates unknown). The only significant estate, Sibrik Major , was divided up in 1945 following the collectivization of agriculture.
Only the Sibrik Chapel, which was used as a burial place, now stands on the site of the former dominion . The Catholic community of Zalaháshágy has been a religious center for its immediate community for centuries. It has a Romanesque style church from the 12th century from the Árpád era . In 1975, during excavations in the listed church, the bricked-up Romanesque windows were brought to light again. The former Háshágy castle can be seen to the east of the church .
The most important cultural event today is the village days, which take place every two years on the second Saturday of July.
