The village of Kleinschwindau is a part of the municipality of St. Wolfgang in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding , which belongs to the district of St. Wolfgang.

location

Kleinschwindau is located between the districts of Großschwindau and Armstorf in the Goldachtal . It is located about three kilometers north of the capital St. Wolfgang and four kilometers south of Dorfen . The place extends in north-south direction for exactly one kilometer and is completely on the federal highway 15 . This crosses the Goldach there for the last time, which from now on only runs east of the B15. Before the course of the B15 was relocated to its present location by about 15 meters to the west in the 1950s, it was located directly on the Goldach. The railings and the attachment to the stream are still partially preserved.

history

Kleinschwindau was historically part of the county of Haag and later of the district of Wasserburg . On July 1, 1972, it came in the wake of the dissolution of the local Wasserburg to district Erding . In 1961 Kleinschwindau had 84 inhabitants, on May 15, 1987 there were 88.

Origin of the name Schwindau

Schwindau was also known as Schwindach (= the fast, swift brook). Another explanation for the names beginning with Schwind (e.g. Schwindau, Schwindach, Schwindkirchen , Schwindegg ) is the word suinen , which means something like 'to work out of the mud or swamp' or 'to dry out'. Accordingly, Schwindau would be a drained area.
