Pyramoos is the southernmost part of the municipality and the district of St. Wolfgang ( Erding district ). It lies between the parishes of St. Wolfgang, Lappach, Jeßling and the parishes of Isen and Haag .

The name Pyramoos is derived from the Old High German word for birch moss.

history

Historically, Pyramoos belongs to the county of Haag and later to the district of Wasserburg am Inn . It was incorporated into St. Wolfgang on April 1, 1971 and, like this municipality, has been part of the Erding district since July 1, 1972.

Until 1971, Pyramoos included a total of 20 settlements spread over an area of 564 hectares: the church village of Pyramoos, the hamlets of Deischl am Thon, Hub, Kalkgrub, Königswinkl and Mühlberg as well as the deserted areas of Alten, Bramer, Braun, Edenklaus, Erlach, Grünbach , Grundbichl, Hohmannsberg, Holzweg, Kothholz, Schnurren, Stangl, Streichermühle and Weiding.

The largest settlements are the former town hall Pyramoos and the hamlet Mühlberg. As of December 31, 2011, Pyramoos had 241 inhabitants. In 1961 the place still had 280 inhabitants (see also the development of the population of St. Wolfgang ) .

Filial church of St. Agatha

St. Agatha's Church

The Church of St. Agatha is a Gothic building from the 15th century with unchanged structural fabric. However, there was already a Romanesque church there, which is mentioned in 1315 as a branch of Burgrain. In 1825, the branch church of Pyramoos was assigned to the Expositur and later the parish of Oberndorf. Today it belongs to the Parish Association of Haag and not - like the rest of the community - to the Parish Association of St. Wolfgang-Schwindkirchen.

The church of Pyramoos is also of importance in terms of art history because of its wooden sculptures.

traffic

The church village of Pyramoos is located on ED 23 and is only a few kilometers away from the federal highways B15 and B12 . In addition, Pyramoos had a station on the Thann-Matzbach-Haag line from 1900 until the Isen-Haag section was closed in 1974 . However, passenger traffic was stopped on September 28, 1968. The route was dismantled.
