Klemens Iten (born February 24, 1858 in Unterägeri ; † January 16, 1932 in Zug , Catholic , resident in Unterägeri) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Klemens Iten was born on February 24, 1858 as the son of the farmer and councilor Johann Jakob and Maria Anna, born Iten. He was a maternal grandson of the politician Klemens Iten . After attending grammar schools in Zug and Zurich , he studied law at the universities of Zurich , Leipzig and Vienna , which he completed in Zurich in 1881 with a doctorate . As a result, he worked as a lawyer in Unterägeri, later in Zug, from 1882 .

As a member of the board of directors of major companies such as the Zug metal goods factory , the Zug and Pratteln galvanizing plants , the bank in Zug and the Ägeri spinning mills, Klemens held a leading position in the economy of the Canton of Zug . He also acted as president of the committee for the Morgarten monument, inaugurated in 1908.

Klemens Iten, who was married to Elisa, daughter of the hotelier Johann Otto Syz, died on January 16, 1932 at the age of 74 in Zug.

politics

From 1886 to 1910 Iten was a member of the Cantonal Council , of which he was President in 1895/1896. As leader of the liberal minority, for he wore at the parliamentary elections in 1896 the only train seat on the National conquered, he was there, of which 1,902 represented as president until the 1911th Klemens Iten, who classified himself as a moderate centralist, was a member of the central board of the Swiss FDP from 1898 to 1907.
