The Klesenmühle (also Lower Mill ) is a hamlet in the district of Gerolzhofen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt .

Geographical location

The Klesenmühle is located in the east of the Gerolzhöfer municipality on the Volkach, about 1 km east of Gerolzhofen, separated by the federal road 286 . To the north, the state road 2274 leads past the farm, further north is Rügshofen , also a district of Gerolzhofen. To the east lies Dingolshausen and southeast Lindelachshof . The Kapellberg rises south of the mill .

history

The history of the Klesenmühle is closely linked to that of the deserted village of Lindelach , on whose mark it lay until the 17th century. The history of the mill is proven by finds from the Neolithic Age . This is how the lower part of a attritor was found on Faulbach. Initially, the residents of the settlement used hand-operated rotary mills before the immigrant Franconians brought the principle of the water mill to Lindelach.

A mill in Lindelach was first mentioned in 1305, when Heinrich Herlein was enfeoffed with it. Two mills are mentioned as early as 1426 and 1494. In 1508 the Fuchs von Bimbach owned both mills that they had acquired from Hartung Fuchs von Dornheim. In 1565 Doctor Faltermeyer owned the mill. In the 16th century, the Mühlbach was branched off from the Volkach, and in 1591 the mills were given their own mill order by the Würzburg bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn .

After the destruction of the village of Lindelach by the Swedes in November 1631, only the two mills remained. In 1662 the miller of the Klesenmühle, Hans Göcker, brought stones from the former town hall of the desert village. Two years later, in 1664, there is a report of a fight between the two Lindelach millers. Göcker had to pay a fine. In 1683 the mill was owned by the Echter von Mespelbrunn and was managed by Valtin Faulhaber.
