history
The place was founded in 1356 by Norbertan women in Zwierzyniec (zoo) on Neumarkt law under the name Slow (Słów). The German settlers changed the place name to Colbark (1388), Kolberg (1393), Kolbarg ( 1399 ), Slow alias Kolbarg (1421), Olbark (1570). The name is derived from the personal name Kol (<Kolbert, Kohlhardt), or Kohl and Middle High German word bërc , Polonized as Kolbark .
The place initially belonged to the Kingdom of Poland (from 1569 in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania ), Krakow Voivodeship , Proszowice district. When Poland was partitioned for the third time in 1795, Kolbark became part of the Habsburg Empire . In the years 1807-1815 the village belonged to the Duchy of Warsaw , from 1815 to 1918 it became part of the Congress of Poland .
In 1918, after the end of the First World War , Kolbark became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the General Government and was on the border (along the White Przemsa).
