history

The fortress of Konojedy is mentioned as early as 1451, which was built on the basis of a knightly order resident here. In the 16th century the fortress was stopped and converted into a Renaissance castle . It is documented that the last owner of the Konojedy was Albrecht Konojedy. Its property was expropriated and sold.

Another famous owner was František Spork , and in 1699 a hospital for the poor was built in the castle. His daughter married František Karl Sweert in 1712 , who founded a monastery here in 1746. In the history it was mentioned that it must have been a ring-shaped monastery.

40 years later, in 1786, the monastery was closed again. The founder's son, Jan Kristian Sweert, bought it, had it torn down and built the new palace in the late Baroque style, which can still be seen today . The mighty Church of the Virgin Mary, which can still be seen today, was built.

Later some owners changed here. The last one bought it from a doctor in Úštěk . In 1945 it was expropriated.

The place is dominated by the castle with the attached church. The castle is connected to the church by a covered corridor. The late baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin was built between 1747 and 1762. There are also some baroque engineering structures in the garden of the palace, e.g. B. the arcade driveway with vases on the railing, some statues, and the entrance area to see.

Today the castle is uninhabited and not accessible to visitors. However, there are detailed photos of the current and previous buildings on the web links. According to the internet, it has an owner. Renovation work is visible from the outside, so the entire roof of the four monastery wings was re-covered between 2009 and 2010. In addition, the distillery building, located a little away from the former fish pond, was renovated.

On the village square there are some village and fortification buildings from the 18th to 19th centuries as well as brick buildings in Empire style from the first half of the 19th century. Near the monastery is a small quarry that is slowly falling apart and is a cultural monument.
