Konrad Adolf Graf von Dyhrn , Freiherr zu Schönau (born November 21, 1803 in Reesewitz in the district of Oels ; † December 2, 1869 there ) was a German aristocrat , politician , philosopher , poet and landowner .

His parents were Ernst Karl Adolf Graf von Dyhrn , Freiherr zu Schönau (1769–1842), the General Landscape Director of Silesia and his second wife, Countess Charlotte, born von Debschitz († 1804).

Count Dyhrn was never married and had no descendants, in the majorate he was followed by the only son of his brother Count Konrad Johannes von Dyhrn.

Life and political career

Konrad Adolf von Dyhrn received lessons from private tutors and attended the reformed grammar school in Breslau, the Knights' Academy in Liegnitz . His noticeable corpulence and short-sightedness released him from military service. He studied since 1823 to Berlin primarily philosophy , history and literature and in 1830 further to his education, went to Paris . After the death of his father, he took over the majorate and was elected General Secretary in 1842 and Vice-President of the Central Agricultural Association for Silesia in 1843 .

In 1843 he joined the liberal party and in 1846 was deputy to the state parliament member of the knighthood in Oels . In the United State Parliament of 1847 he was the most liberal member of the gentlemen's curia, spoke for the emancipation of the Jews , the abolition of patrimonial jurisdiction and the salt monopoly, as well as for the periodicity of the United State Parliament and urged Prussia to give up Germany. After the March days of 1848 he was a member of the second United State Parliament of the constitutional party and was elected deputy to the National Assembly in Oels und Brieg . As a member of the First Chamber in 1849 and the new Second Chamber , he belonged to the opposition, in the Erfurt Union Parliament and in the chamber sessions from 1850 to 1852 of the decided left.

The "fat Dyhrn" was a very popular figure in parliaments because of his pure character, his versatile knowledge and his striking wit. Since October 12, 1854 he was a hereditary member of the manor house , but did not take his seat in it until 1861. He was also a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation as a member of the constituent Reichstag for the constituency of Breslau 3 ( Groß-Wartenberg - Oels ) . In 1827 Count Dyhrn appeared as a playwright with the tragedy "Konradin's Death".
