Konrad Schalk was involved with the Deggendorfer TSV Natternberg for decades .

In March 2009, at the age of 71 , he was one of the founders of the sponsoring association Sportler Hilfe Sportlern in 1997 with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his “voluntary commitment and solidarity with people in need” .

Schalk has been the first chairman of the association since it was founded in 1997. After he handed the office to Willi Sigl on 7 April 2005, he was at the suggestion of CSU - member of parliament Bernd Sibler the honorary chairman appointed.

criticism

The award of the Medal of Merit to Schalk met with criticism in the ranks of the NPD and subsequently also in Antifa circles.

In 1975, according to information from the NPD district chairman Deggendorf Alfred Steinleitner (* 1960), Schalk was banned from speaking by Walter Bachmann, the NPD state chairman at the time, because of anti-Semitic speeches that he is said to have given at a party meeting in Niederpöring . According to Steinleitner's statement, he was later “excluded because of anti-Jewish statements” from the NPD. Schalk himself admitted in this regard that he had been a member of the NPD for six months at the end of the 1960s and denied the accusation that he had been expelled from the party because of anti-Jewish statements.

death

Konrad Schalk died in April 2014 after a long and serious illness at the age of 76. The funeral service was held in the Filialkirche Mariä Visitation in Rettenbach . Schalk was married and had one son.
