From 1941 to 1943 he joined the Gauliga Hessen-Nassau , which was created in 1941 as one of the three successors of the Gauligen Hessen and Südwest, for Kickers Offenbach to point games. The first season was played in two groups, from which his team emerged as the winner of Group 1 and the final played in two legs against the winner of Group 2. The first leg against Reichsbahn TSV Rot-Weiß Frankfurt ended goalless, the second leg was won 6: 4 and thus the Gaume Championship. Against this club, his team prevailed in the following season , which was played as a division of ten in a double league round.

After he had played the 1943/44 season for SC Halberg Brebach , he moved to 1.FC Saarbrücken , to which he belonged from 1944 and after the cessation of game operations from 1945 to 1948 initially in the Oberliga Südwest , as one of initially three, later on five extended leagues as the highest German league, was used. In the 1948/49 season he came in seven league games, in which he scored eight goals, in Ligue 2 , the second-highest division in France, used. From 1949 to 1951 he played for the International Saarland Cup, which was also won in 1950.

The 1951/52 season - returned to the German game operations - he concluded with the team as a Southwest German champion. He then took part with his team in the final round of the German Championship , played all six games in Group 1 , from which he emerged as the winner - even before 1. FC Nürnberg - and reached the final against VfB Stuttgart . The game played on June 22, 1952 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein was lost 2: 3; in this he scored his third goal in the final round with the 1-0 lead in the 15th minute. Furthermore, he only played the first round match for the DFB Cup with FC St. Pauli , which was held on August 17, 1952 , and lost 2-1, as well as three games for the Saarland Cup , in which he scored six goals. Fifth place in the 1953/54 season , he ended his time at 1. FC Saarbrücken and moved to Sportfreunde Saarbrücken , who, as a newcomer, had to relegate the 1954/55 season as the last of 16 participating teams to the 2. Oberliga Südwest . As champions of the 1955/56 season , the club returned to the top German league and was relegated again at the end of the 1956/57 season as the last; Schreiner ended his active football career.
