Venues Gauliga Hessen-Nassau 1941/42 |
The Gauliga Hessen-Nassau 1941/42 was the first season of the Gauliga Hessen-Nassau (officially: regional class Hessen-Nassau ) in football. This division was one of three new leagues that had been created in the second year of the war in order to create smaller units in the area of the previous sports areas of Hesse and Southwest . 13 teams from the Rhein-Main area , Central and East Hesse played in two groups, the group winners finally determined the Gaumeister in two finals. As in the previous year, Kickers Offenbach was the superior relay champion with only one loss point, finally prevailed against the RTuSV Rot-Weiß Frankfurt and was thus able to secure a championship title for the third time in a row. In the subsequent final round of the German championship, the OFC reached the semi- finals for the first time in the club's history, but failed there because of the eventual champions Schalke 04. Since the Hessen-Nassau division was to be played on a single track with ten teams in the next round, only the four remained First place in each group in the Gauliga of the 1942/43 season , plus the winners of the two promotion rounds SpVgg. Neu-Isenburg and SC Opel Rüsselsheim .

Championship finals
As in the previous two years, Kickers Offenbach secured the relay championship in a superior manner, but struggled in the finals for the Gaume Championship. After a 0-0 first leg on April 5, 1941 in the stadium at Brentanobad, RTuSV Rot-Weiß Frankfurt took the lead twice in the second leg at Bieberer Berg a week later, but the Kickers turned the game around in the final quarter of an hour and left after a 2 : 3-residue with 6: 4 as Gaumeister from the place.
