Konrad von Rodank

Konrad von Rodank (* 1140 , † October 14, 1216 in Brixen ) was Bishop of Brixen .

Konrad von Rodank came from a Brixen ministerial family whose ancestral castle is in Rodeneck , the father was provost in Brixen. Konrad studied at the Brixen Cathedral School and became a canon in 1173, a canon in Neustift in 1178 and provost around 1183/85. After a fire, he had the monastery and church rebuilt and built a hospice for the sick and pilgrims. In 1197 he was elected Provost of the Cathedral in Gurk and at the end of 1200 he was elected Bishop of Brixen to succeed Eberhard von Regensberg, who had been transferred to Salzburg .

Konrad was first part of Philip of Swabia , after his murder by Otto IV , with whom he moved to Rome in 1209. He received Summersberg Castle from Count Albert von Tirol .

Konrad von Rodank founded and consecrated numerous churches in his diocese, for example the collegiate church in Wilten in 1201 or the hospital in Klausen in 1205 .

On October 14, 1216 he had a fatal accident in the Frauenkirche on the cloister . He is one of the most important Brixen bishops.
