Konstantin Aleksandrovich Trutowski ( Russian Константин Александрович Трутовский , Ukrainian Костянтин Олександрович Трутовський Kostyantyn Oleksandrowytsch Trutowskyj , born January 28 . Jul / 9. February 1826 greg. In Kursk , Kursk , Russian Empire , † March 17 jul. / 29. March 1893 greg. in Jakowlewka, Ujesd Obojan , Kursk Governorate, Russian Empire) was a Russian - Ukrainian painter, draftsman and illustrator.
Life
Konstantin Trutowski was born into an old noble family in Kursk and spent his childhood on his father's estate in Kharkov Governorate . After graduating from a private educational institution in Kharkov , in 1839 he went to the Nikolayev Engineering College , an educational institution of the Russian army , in Saint Petersburg . After graduating from school, he taught the drawing and architecture class there and studied at the same time from 1845 to 1849 at the Imperial Art Academy in Saint Petersburg, among others with Fyodor Bruni , where he became friends with Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Taras Shevchenko . After completing his studies, he left St. Petersburg, which he only visited occasionally, and moved to Jakowlewka in Ujesd Obojan. In 1861 he was appointed academician of the Imperial Art Academy for portraying a Ukrainian Khorovod . Between 1871 and 1881 he worked as an inspector at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture . He died at the age of 67 in Jakowlewka, where he was also buried.
The Moscow historian Vladimir Trutovsky (1862–1932) was his son.

Trutowski created numerous landscape and genre pictures, many of which he created in ethnographic art : All pictures he painted in Ukraine were to combine two main cycles: the "Pictures of Scenes of Ukrainian Life" (watercolors) and the "Picturesque Ukraine ". In addition to his paintings, he illustrated several works by Nikolai Gogol , Mikhail Lermontov , Marko Vovchok , Taras Shevchenko and Ivan Krylow .
