The Costanera power plant ( Spanish Central térmica Costanera ) is a gas and combined cycle power plant in Buenos Aires , Argentina , which is located in the La Boca district on the Río de la Plata .

With an installed capacity of 2,324 MW , Costanera is the most powerful power plant in Argentina (as of August 2017). The annual generation in 2016 was 5.713 billion kWh (2.179 billion from the conventional and 3.534 billion kWh from the CCGT systems).
The power plant went into operation in 1963 with the first two units. It is owned by Enel and operated by Enel.

Plant 1 is a conventional thermal power plant , consisting of 6 individual blocks that can be fired with both natural gas and oil. Plants 2 and 3 are combined cycle power plants . Plant 2 consists of 2 gas turbines with a downstream steam turbine . In plant 3, the original steam turbine was retrofitted in 1996 with a gas turbine with a heat recovery steam generator .
