Heinrich Georg von Blumenthal (* 1716 ; † December 31, 1756 near Ostritz ) was a Prussian major .

Life

Heinrich Georg was a member of the Brandenburg noble family von Blumenthal . He was a son of the Prussian State and War Minister Adam Ludwig von Blumenthal (1691–1760) and Sophie Esther von Hoym from the house of Poblotz (1697–1733). The Prussian chief steward , colonel and commander of the Garde du Corps regiment , Hans von Blumenthal (1722–1788) was his younger brother.

Career

He joined the Prussian army and served as an officer . In 1743 he was Rittmeister . During the Seven Years' War , the Austrians under General Franz Moritz von Lacy attempted a simultaneous attack on the Prussian posts at Ostritz, Laube, Marienthal and Radmeriz , which failed in the matter, but cost Blumenthal his life.

Prince Heinrich of Prussia dedicated a plaque to him (No. 21) on his Rheinsberg obelisk :

“Von Blumenthal, Major in the Prince Heinrich Regiment. His bright mind, his legal disposition, led him hand in hand towards perfection when he was killed while defending a post near Ostritz in Lusatia on September 31, 1756. "

family

Blumenthal married Countess Theresia d'Harscamp (1712–1782) in Namur in 1743 , who as a widow became chief steward of the Princess Wilhelmine of Prussia . The marriage had three sons who died young.
