Krassimir Petrow Widenow ( Bulgarian Красимир Петров Виденов ; born June 15, 1968 in Samokow ) is a former Bulgarian biathlete who took part in three Winter Olympics.
Krassimir Widenow lives in his native Samokow. At the Junior World Championships in 1987 in Lahti , he won the bronze medal with the Bulgarian relay team, which Christo Kowatschki also belonged to, behind the representatives from the Soviet Union and the GDR.
Widenow's first international championship in the men’s performance area was the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , where he was 29th of the sprint and eighth in the relay with Wassil Bojilow , Vladimir Velichkov and Christo Wodenitscharow . In the home Borowetz he reached in the post-Olympic season 1988/89 in an individual as 25th the points in a World Cup race . At the 1989 World Championships in Feistritz an der Drau he finished 34th in the individual and 41st in the sprint. At the 1990 World Championships , he came in 15th in the individual and 22nd in the sprint, which was two of his best international results ever. In 1991 Widenow was 56th of the sprint in Lahti. In 1992 the Bulgarian competed for the second time at the Winter Olympics. In Albertville he reached the best result of his career as 14th of the individual, in the sprint he was 35th and with Christo Wodenitscharow, Spas Gulew and Spas Slatew as the starting runner with the season 14. It was the last season of Bulgaria in Olympic biathlon competitions until himself 2010 in Vancouver was able to qualify a Bulgarian selection again.
The next international championships, the 1993 World Championships , took place in Borovets , at home . Widenow was 45th of the individual, 53rd of the sprint and with Bojtscho Popow , Spas Slatew and Todor Maschow 19th in the relay race. In 1994 he took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer for the third and last time. He was the only Bulgarian biathlete to qualify for it. So he could only contest the individual races in which he was 31st in the sprint and 60th in the individual. At the beginning of the 1994/95 season , Widenow achieved the best World Cup result of his career in an individual in Bad Gastein with 22nd place. The 1995 World Championships in Antholz marked the end of his career . Here the Bulgarian was 80th in the individual and 54th in the sprint race.
