Wilhelm Hartel (doctor)

Wilhelm Hartel (born April 29, 1930 in Opladen ) is a German surgeon and medical officer.

Life

Wilhelm Hartel studied medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the University of Innsbruck from 1950 . In 1956 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. In 1957 he was approved by the government in Düsseldorf . He began his surgical training in 1956/57 at Harper University Hospital in Detroit. After two years at the Augustinus Hospital in Dormagen, he was in the internal department of the district hospital in Wangen im Allgäu in 1959/60 . In 1960 he went to Frankfurt am Main . After three years with Rudolf Geißendörfer in the Frankfurt University Hospital , he spent eleven years with Edgar Ungeheuer in the Northwest Hospital. Since 1971, habilitation , he was in 1977 by the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main to apl. Professor appointed. In 1974, as a senior physician , he took over the management of the surgery department at the German Armed Forces Central Hospital in Koblenz . In 1980 he moved to the Bundeswehr Hospital in Ulm in the same position . After completing his qualification , he was a member of the Medical Faculty of Ulm University . In 1992 he retired.

Then he was the successor to his teacher Ungeheuer ten years General Secretary of the German Society for Surgery . He was Chairman of the Association of Surgeons from the Middle Rhine (1986) and President of the German Society for Surgery (1991). As Secretary General of the DGCH, Hartel (with the Hanoverian surgeon Jürgen Bauch ) made a decisive contribution to the fact that the Langenbeck-Virchow House could be won back after a ten-year legal dispute through a judgment of the Federal Administrative Court . From 1994 to 2000 Hartel was Deputy President of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies .
