Karl-Heinz Schriefers
Karl-Heinz Schriefers (born December 18, 1926 in Schiefbahn ; † June 17, 2018 ) was a German surgeon and medical professional .
Live and act
Born in Schiefbahn (Niederrhein), Karl-Heinz Schriefers studied medicine at the universities of Mainz and Bonn after attending school - interrupted by participating in the Second World War 1943 to 1945 - and graduating from high school (1946). In 1953 he passed the state examination and doctorate for Dr. med. with a thesis on "Functional disorders after partial and total gastric resection". From 1953 he worked at various university institutes and clinics and began his surgical training. From 1956 to 1965 he worked at the Surgical University Clinic in Bonn under the direction of Alfred Gütgemann , and since 1965 as a senior physician. In 1960 Karl-Heinz Schriefers was recognized as a specialist in surgery, and in 1981 also for trauma surgery . In 1964 he qualified as a professor in surgery with a thesis on the subject of "Investigations into the effects of portal hypertension in liver cirrhosis and portocaval anastomosis operations on the circulation".
In 1969, he was appointed adjunct professor for surgery and head of department at the surgical clinic of the University of Bonn . In the same year Karl-Heinz Schriefers moved to Koblenz, where he was appointed chief physician of the surgical clinic at the Kemperhof municipal hospital in Koblenz, an office he held until his retirement in 1991. During this time he was the medical director of this hospital for more than ten years.
Schriefers was a member of the Presidium of the German Society for Surgery from 1986 to 1994 (President 1987/88). From 1973 to 1995 he was chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Association in the Association of Leading Hospital Doctors in Germany, and from 1976 to 1991 he was a member of the board of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Medical Association in Mainz.
