Hartwig Bauer

Hartwig Bauer (born June 10, 1942 in Eichstätt ) is a German surgeon .

Life

Bauer studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After the state examination in 1967 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . From 1967 to 1969 he was a medical assistant at the Kipfenberg district hospital . He then spent eleven years at the Surgical Polyclinic of the University of Munich Clinic (Director Fritz Holle ). 1971/72 he served as a conscript medical officer at the medical academy of the Bundeswehr in Munich. He became a specialist in surgery in 1975 by the Bavarian State Medical Association. In 1977 he completed his habilitation in Munich. He received accreditations for trauma surgery (1979) and visceral surgery (1993). C2 professor since 1980, he was elected surgical chief physician and medical director of the Altötting District Clinic , teaching hospital of the Technical University of Munich , in 1981 . Bauer sat on the board or presidium of various specialist societies and professional associations. In 1989 he headed the Association of Bavarian Surgeons . In 1996/97 he was President of the German Society for Surgery . With his election as its full-time Secretary General, he retired from active clinical service in 2002.
