Hans-Detlev Saeger

Hans-Detlev Saeger (born July 20, 1946 in Berlin ) is a German surgeon and former professor of surgery at the Technical University of Dresden .

Act

Saeger studied medicine at the Free University of Berlin from 1965 to 1971 , received his license to practice medicine in 1972 and received his doctorate in 1973. He completed his surgical training in Berlin and Mannheim , where he qualified as a professor in 1986 in surgery. In 1993 he took over the chair for surgery at the TU Dresden and became director of the clinic and polyclinic for visceral, thoracic and vascular surgery at the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital in Dresden . Although he received a call to the C4 chair for surgery at the Faculty of Clinical Medicine Mannheim at the University of Heidelberg in 1997 , he decided to stay in Dresden.

In 2000 Saeger was accepted as a member of the German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina , from 2002 to 2005 he was dean of the medical faculty of the TU Dresden and from 2005 to 2006 president of the German Society for Surgery .

From 2009 to 2015 Saeger was a member of the presidium of the AWMF ( Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies ), whose working group “Doctors and Lawyers” he has been in charge of since 2008. In 2012 Jürgen Weitz succeeded him as full professor in Dresden.
