Richard Kirsch
Richard Willy Kirsch (born April 30, 1915 in Berlin-Dahlem ; † June 17, 1971 in Berlin-Mitte ) was a German surgeon and university professor.
Life
Kirsch's parents were the schoolteacher Max Kirsch (1877–1955) and his wife Gertrud Kirsch nee. Koehler (1894–1966).
Kirsch attended the Arndt-Gymnasium Dahlem , the Askanische Gymnasium , the Gymnasium in Berlin-Friedenau and the United Askanische and Tempelhofer Gymnasium in Berlin-Tempelhof . After graduating from high school in February 1933, he studied medicine at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin and the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg . In 1938 in Würzburg he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. He was a medical intern at the Luitpold Hospital in Würzburg, the Rudolf Hess Hospital in Dresden and the Stubenrauch Hospital in Berlin-Lichterfelde.
Surgical background
From 1939 he was a trainee doctor at the Vienna XX Accident Hospital, an assistant doctor at the Rudolf Hess Hospital in Dresden and an assistant doctor at the district hospital in Rastenburg . From 1941 to 1945 he was a senior physician at the district hospital in Johannisburg , where he became a specialist in surgery in 1944 . He fled East Prussia in 1945 and was placed as a senior physician at the municipal hospital in Nordhausen (alternative location Ilfeld ). After three years as chief physician in Sülzhayn , he moved to the district hospital in Stollberg / Erzgeb in 1948 . There he was also head of the district polyclinic , contract doctor for the People's Police , prison physician, doctor for the Free German Youth and lecturer at the adult education center .
East Berlin
From 1950 to 1955 he was a full-time senior physician at the government hospital of the GDR in East Berlin . He was also a senior physician at the Charité University Tumor Clinic . In 1951/52 he temporarily headed the surgical department of the People's Police Hospital . On May 28, 1952 , he qualified as a professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin for surgery. From 1955 to 1960 he was the full-time chief physician at the Charité's tumor clinic and part-time senior physician at the government hospital. Since 1956 he has been professor of surgery with a teaching position at the Medical Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin. In the same year he went to North Vietnam for 9 months . He devoted himself to the establishment and supervision of the Phu-Doan University Hospital ( Wilhelm Pieck Hospital) and the reconstruction of the Viet-Duc Hospital in Hanoi . From 1960 to 1963 he was chief surgeon at the Berlin-Friedrichshain hospital .
Dresden
From 1963 to 1971 he was director of the surgical clinic of the Medical Academy "Carl Gustav Carus" . In 1964 he also became a specialist in sports medicine . When he was promoted to Doctor of Science (Dr. sc. Med.) On September 1, 1969 , his academic title Dr. med. habil. As full professor of surgery, Kirsch died of carcinoma at the age of 56 . He was buried in the central cemetery in Friedrichsfelde .
