History and etymology

Archaeological excavations show that the place was inhabited by Slavs at an earlier time . Krecowe was first mentioned in a document from 1308, when the village was donated to a calendar brotherhood . The existence of a mill is also known from this period. At the end of the 13th century, craftsmen built a parish church in the village . The name of the place changed over the centuries from Krekow in 1417 to Kreckow in 1508 and is said to be derived from a locator Krek . In 1597 half of the village was given to Bisbro Oldenfleeth as a pledge and was only released again in 1636. During the Thirty Years War , the place and the church were destroyed. A few years after the end of the war, the place came into stranger hands again as pledge. In 1687 Ernst Werner von Raven took over the estate. However, the settlement recovered only slowly: six farms have survived from 1719. In 1743 Wilhelm Ludwig von Bissing took over the place for 27,000 thalers. He built a manor house in 1744 and had the church rebuilt in 1752 together with his wife Christine Sophie von Lehsten . Nevertheless, economic development stagnated: in 1766 there were five farms in the village. In 1793 Kreckow came into the possession of Heinrich Otto Graf von Schwerin, who married the only daughter of the Bissings. In his time, the number of farm positions fell to four in 1810. In 1860 the Strasen family leased the place. In 1932 there was a major fire in which a large part of the livestock died.

After the end of the Second World War , the manor family was expelled and the land was redistributed as part of a land reform. 64 new farmer positions were created, which merged in 1946 to form mutual farmer aid. Through further resettlers, five additional new farms were added by 1949. The local children went to the manor house, which was used as a school building from 1950 onwards. In 1951 another seven new farms were built. The local farmers cleared a machine shed of the manor house in 1957 and set up a culture room there. A year later, some farmers joined together to form the LPG Junge Welt . In 1967 the places in Kreckow and Klein Daberkow received a connection to a central water supply. In 1975 the LPG merged with LPG Frieden in Klein Daberkow. A year later, craftsmen tore down the restaurant; another year later the school was closed.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , an agricultural cooperative was founded from the LPG. In 1994 craftsmen built a playground; a year later the sculptor Simon Schade bought the manor house. The kindergarten closed in the same year. On October 1, 2000, the residents celebrated the first district harvest festival in town. A year later, craftsmen renovated the half-timbered barn.
