Szolnok (Hungarian Szolnoki járás ) is a district in the west of the central Hungarian county Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok . It is bordered by Jászapáti County in the north, Kunhegyes County in the northeast , Törökszentmiklós County in the east, Mezőtúr County in the south-east and Kunszentmárton County in the south . Pest county forms the county border in the west, and Bács-Kiskun county in the south-west in a small piece (~ 4 km) .
history
In the course of the Hungarian administrative reform at the beginning of 2013, the district emerged unchanged from the small area of the same name (Hungarian Szolnoki kistérség ) with all 18 municipalities.

The Szolnok District has an average municipality size of 6,464 inhabitants on an area of 50.80 square kilometers. Without the district town, these average values are reduced to 2,590 inhabitants. and 42.78 km², respectively. With its area, population and population density , the district ranks first in the county.
The administrative center is located in the largest city, Szolnok , in the center of the district. The city is the seat of the county and also has county rights (Hungarian Megyei jogú város ).
