Veszprém ( Hungarian Veszprémi járás ) is an inland district in the center of the Hungarian Veszprém county . It borders in the south, starting clockwise, on the following districts: Balatonfüred , Tapolca , Ajka , Pápa , Zirc , Várpalota and Balatonalmádi .

history

At the beginning of 2013, 17 of the 20 municipalities of the small area Veszprém (Hungarian Veszprémi kistérség ) were taken over by the successor group of the same name as part of the Hungarian administrative reform . The other three municipalities ended up in the Balatonalmádi district ( Királyszentistván and Papkeszi communities ) and Várpalota district ( Vilonya municipality ). The district was strengthened by two more communities.

Community overview

The Veszprém District has an average municipality size of 4,303 inhabitants on an area of ​​33.14 square kilometers. Without the district town these values ​​decrease to 1,187 inhabitants. and 27.93 km², respectively. The most populous district also has the highest population density in the county.
The district seat is located in the largest city, Veszprém , almost in the middle of the circle. The city is also the seat of the county of the same name and has the rights of a county (Hungarian Megyei jogú város ).
