history

1869 is the founding year of the oldest predecessor institute, the Amtssparkasse Neuenhaus , which was merged with the savings banks from Bentheim , Nordhorn and Schüttorf to form the Kreissparkasse a good six decades later .

On October 30, 1869, the Neuenhauser official meeting decided to found a savings bank for the district of Neuenhaus, which began operations on March 1, 1870. The governor Lindemann was elected chairman. On March 30, 1871, the Bentheim official meeting decided to found a “Sparcasse and Credit-Casse” for the Bentheim district. The "Sparkasse des Amts Bentheim" began its work on January 1, 1873 in the main office of Bentheim and the secondary offices of Schüttorf and Gildehaus . On April 2, 1921, the Oberpräsident in Hanover approved the establishment of the Sparkasse der Stadt Nordhorn, which opened on July 1, 1921. On August 18, 1932, the county of Bentheim decided to merge the Amtssparkassen Bentheim and Neuenhaus to form a Kreissparkasse based in Bentheim. A few months later, on November 30, 1932, the district committee passed the first statutes of the "Kreissparkasse des Grafschaft Bentheim district". On June 12, 1933, the Prussian State Ministry decided to dissolve the Amtssparkassen in Neuenhaus and Bentheim and the Städtische Sparkasse in Nordhorn and to create a district savings bank with branches in Nordhorn, Neuenhaus and Bentheim from these previously independent savings banks. With the transfer of the Stadtsparkasse Schüttorf to the Kreissparkasse on October 1, 1933, all the savings banks in the County of Bentheim were merged. On January 31, 1946, the British military government at the time ordered, among other things, the relocation of the Kreissparkasse's headquarters from Bentheim to Nordhorn. With effect from January 1, 1963, the district, as the sponsor of the savings bank, issued a savings bank statute, in which the new name of the institute was determined: "Kreissparkasse Grafschaft Bentheim zu Nordhorn". In 1995 the Kreissparkasse Grafschaft Bentheim zu Nordhorn established the “Grafschafter Sparkassenstiftung”. In March 2003, due to incorrect advice in connection with foreign exchange transactions, the district court of Osnabrück requested payment of approx. € 762,000 in damages sentenced. In the appeal before the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court , however, the process was concluded with a settlement.
