criticism

  • "Monika Treut has achieved a feat: she made a sensual, touching, illuminating film about a topic that often only provokes fleeting consternation in TV features." Süddeutsche Zeitung , February 15, 2002.
  • “The director does not feast on effect-seeking images of unspeakable poverty, shrill warning tones are alien to the film. It is about the daily grueling sadness that has a longer lasting effect than spectacular snapshots because it depicts the vicious circle of violence, drugs and suffering from all sides. Monika Treut finally succeeds in showing slum children as people who deserve more than our pity. ”Alexander Bartl in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , July 23, 2002.
  • “A fascinating film, as warm-hearted and unsentimental as its protagonist.” Der Spiegel , February 25, 2002.
  • "[...] impressive and very moving." (4 out of 5 stars) Stern , July 18, 2002.
