Kristian Konstantinov Kostov ( Bulgarian Кристиан Константинов Костов , scientific transliteration Kristian Konstantinov Kostov; born March 15, 2000 in Moscow ) is a Bulgarian - Russian singer of Kazakh descent.

life and career

Kostow was born in 2000 as the son of a Bulgarian and a Kazakh in the Russian capital Moscow, where he still lives today. He has an older brother and a younger sister.

He took part in the first season of the Russian version of The Voice Kids in 2014 and was only eliminated in the final under the care of Dima Bilan , who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 . The following year he took part in the Bulgarian version of X Factor and came second in Stanislawa Armutliewa's team .

On March 13, 2017, Kostov was selected internally to represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev . His song Beautiful Mess was written by Borislaw Milanow , Sebastian Armann and Joakim Bo Persson , who also wrote the Bulgarian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 , Poli Genowas If Love Was a Crime . Kostow was the first participant in the ESC, whose year of birth begins with a two. In the final, Kostow, who was one of the favorites, achieved second place and thus Bulgaria's best result at the ESC.

In January Kostow received the European Border Breakers Award , which honors European newcomers who are also successful outside of their home countries. In addition, he was the winner of the audience award.

From January to February 2019 he was a participant in the Chinese show Singer from which he was eliminated after the second round.
