Kristinn Guðmundsson
Kristinn Guðmundsson (born October 14, 1897 on the farm Krókur, Rauðasandur , today Vesturbyggð municipality ; † April 30, 1982 in Reykjavík ) was an Icelandic politician ( Progressive Party ) and diplomat .
Life
Kristinn Guðmundsson studied law at the University of Iceland , then from 1921 to 1926 law and economics in Kiel and Berlin. In 1926 he received his doctorate with the dissertation The Danish-English trade relations in their development and current design at the Institute for World Economy and Maritime Transport at the University of Kiel .
From September 1953 to July 1956 Kristinn Guðmundsson was his country's foreign minister as successor to Bjarni Benediktsson . From September 27, 1956 to January 1, 1961, he served as Icelandic Ambassador to the United Kingdom ; from November 16, 1956 to January 19, 1961, he was also responsible for the Netherlands . From 1961 he was Icelandic ambassador to the Soviet Union and various Eastern European countries: the Soviet Union on Jan. 1, 1961 - December 31, 1967, Bulgaria April 29, 1965 - December 31, 1967, Romania December 28, 1960 - December 31, 1967, Hungary 28th December 1960 - December 31, 1967.
