Kristof van Looy (born March 13, 1985 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian ice hockey player who has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks from Mechelen in the Belgian National League Division 1 since 2017 .

Career

Kristof van Looy, who comes from the Merksem district of Antwerp, began his career with the Phantoms Deurne , for whom he made his debut in the Belgian honor division at the age of 15 . He played for 15 years for the Antwerp suburb club, which renamed itself Phantoms Antwerp in 2009 . With the exception of the 2011/12 season, when the team competed in the second Belgian division, he was always on the ice in the honor division. In 2001, 2003 and 2015 he won the Belgian championship with the team ; 2001, 2002 and 2005 also the cup competition . After interrupting his career in 2015, he has been playing for the Cold Play Sharks from Mechelen in the National League Division 1 , the second-highest division in Belgium, since 2017 .

International

For Belgium van Looy took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2001 and 2002 in Division III and 2003 in Division II as well as the U20 World Championships in 2003 in Division III and 2004 in Division II.

For the men's national team , van Looy took part in the World Championships of Division II in 2006 , 2009 , 2011 , when he was voted the best player of his team, in 2012 and 2015 , with 2012 being promoted from group B to group A of the division II succeeded.
