Kritzenast is a district of Waldmünchen in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham .

location

The village is located in the Schwarzachtal about 6 km west of Waldmünchen and west of the state road 2400 . Kritzenast belongs to the Albernhof district. About 500 m north of Kritzenast, the Bavarian Schwarzach and the Bohemian Schwarzach merge to form the Schwarzach.

Surname

The name Kritzenast (also: Chritzenastt, Chritzenast, Chriczenast) was chosen to distinguish it from the neighboring church branch (formerly: Chirchenastt), the original name of Ast .

The name Ast can be derived from ovista austa = sheepfold and from Asplatz = pasture place, asen = pasture. In a document from 1574 there is talk of a nearby stream called Ast.

Kritzenast is mentioned in the land register of the Vitztumamt Straubing from 1312. Wolfram Geiganter was the owner of Kritzenast at that time.

In the 19th century, Kritzenast and 16 families belonged to the rural district of Albernhof.

In the registry of the diocese of Regensburg from 1838 Kritzenast is recorded with 14 houses and 114 inhabitants. It belonged to the parish of Ast.

In 1987 Kritzenast was a village with 69 inhabitants, 19 houses and 23 apartments. It belonged to the community of Waldmünchen .
