Sari Kristiina Krooks (born February 2, 1968 in Vaasa ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who won the bronze medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics with the Finnish national team .

Career

Sari Krooks began her career in 1983 at Vaasan Sport and with this team she reached third place in the Finnish championship in 1986, the Naisten SM-sarja . In the late 1980s she went to North America and subsequently played for the North York Eros and Russel Invaders. During the 1993/94 season, she went back to the ice for Vaasan Sport before breaking a leg in 1995 and thereby missing the 1996 European Championship. In 1996 she began studying at York University in Toronto and played for its ice hockey team in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA), a college league.

In 1997 she returned to Finland and worked for Ilves Tampere in SM-sarja, before she resumed her studies at York University in 1998. At the same time, she went on ice for the Beatrice Eros in the NWHL .

Between 2003 and 2005 Krooks was active for the DHC Lyss in performance class A before she ended her active career. In the Naisten SM-sarja she completed a total of 77 games, in which she scored 187 goals and prepared another 45.

International

Sari Krooks represented the Finnish national team at the 1998 Winter Olympics , five world championships and three European championships . In 1998 she won the Olympic silver medal and world championship bronze medals in 1990 , 1992 , 1994 , 1997 and 1999 . In addition, she reached three European championship titles - 1989, 1991 and 1995. In total, she completed 90 international matches, in which she collected 51 goals, 40 assists and a total of 91 points scorer - with 114 penalty minutes.

In 2009 she was honored for her services to Finnish women's ice hockey by being accepted into the Finnish Ice Hockey Hall of Fame .
