Krzysztof Stec

Krzysztof Stec (born January 27, 1948 in Lublin ; † November 7, 2019 there ) was a Polish cyclist and national cycling champion .

Athletic career

In 1967 Stec won the Polish championship in cyclo-cross racing , in 1968 he was runner-up. His main sporting focus was road cycling , he was trained by Andrzej Trochanowski . Stec started three times in the International Peace Trip , with 14th place in the overall individual ranking in 1969 being his best result. In 1970 he won the 11th stage of the tour.

In 1969 he won a stage of the domestic Tour of Poland . For the Polish national team he competed in the British Milk Race , the Tour de l'Avenir and the Tour of Scotland . In 1971 he finished third in the victory of Wladislaw Neljubin at the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe .

In 1968 and 1969 he won the Polish team time trial championships with Legia Warsaw . He also competed in track races , winning bronze in the single pursuit at the 1968 championships.

He competed three times in the UCI road world championships , two of them in the team time trial. In 1973 he was involved in the fatal traffic accident of the Polish trainer Henryk Łasak , immediately afterwards he ended his career.
