Cuban men's national handball team

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cuban men's national handball team represents Cuba at international tournaments in men's handball . The greatest success at a world championship was the advance in 1999 to the quarter-finals, but there the team was defeated by Sweden with 26:33, after they could already set an exclamation point with a 32:24 victory in the round of 16 against Denmark. Already at the World Championships in 1995 and 1997 one could reach the round of 16, after this very successful period the team disappeared for a while from the world elite, as several national players of this so-called "golden generation" playing in Europe took citizenship of their respective club country and for the corresponding national teams competed, including those of Hungary, Iceland and Spain. After that you could only qualify for a World Cup again in 2009.
