The Kuhkopf is 2399 m above sea level. A. high summit in the Karwendel at the east end of the northern Karwendel range . The summit is the intersection of two ridge branches, which is why it is also known as the cross ridge or cross wall . The eastern branch leads to the Talelespitze ( 2104 m above sea level ), the south-eastern branch falls over the felt wall to the Kleiner Ahornboden . The first ascent was made by Hermann von Barth on July 5, 1870.
Climbing opportunities
The summit can be reached on a partially pathless mountain tour from Scharnitz via the Karwendelhaus or from Hinterriß via the Kleiner Ahornboden . Because of the long valley hike from Scharnitz or Hinterriß to the Kuhkopf, the mountain tour is only recommended as a day tour by mountain bike . The ascent takes place from Grasslegerbichl ( 1749 m above sea level ) over an old cart path to the foot of the Kuhkopf. Continue over the Ochsenkar into a notch (P. 2223 m in the AV map) and eastwards over a steep grass slope - which is not harmless when wet - to the summit. The summit of the Kuhkopf was characterized by an old ladies' bicycle until around 2002. This has now disappeared from the summit. Currently (as of 2016) the frame (without wheels, saddle and handlebars) of a men's bike is mounted as a summit cross on an iron bar.
