history

After belonging to the Principality of Rügen until 1326, the place and region became part of the Duchy of Pomerania. Gut Kummerow was sold to the city of Stralsund in 1341 and had been with the Barth Office since 1658. With the end of the Thirty Years' War until 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania .

The community was part of the Franzburg-Barth district until 1952 and then belonged to the Stralsund district in the Rostock district until 1994 . With effect from May 26, 2019, the community was incorporated into Niepars. The last mayor was Manfred Lange.
