Kunigunden's Rest
Kunigundenruh is a torture , an excursion restaurant and a rifle house in the main moor forest east of the city of Bamberg . It commemorates the canonized Empress Kunigunde of Luxembourg .
The Legend According Empress was Cunegonde once out of town with her husband, also canonized Emperor Henry II. , On the go. From a distance they could still hear the bells of Bamberg Cathedral . The Kunigunde bell sounded so beautiful that Emperor Heinrich pulled his ring from his finger with envy, hurled it five kilometers at his wife's bell, and broke a round piece of the bell in the process. The Kunigundenruh is part of the municipality Litzendorf with an area of almost one hectare , surrounded by the municipality-free area Hauptsmoorwald. In the wilderness , in the middle of the forest near the A73 motorway and south of the state road 2281 , there is a restaurant and a rifle house. Only two people live in Kunigundenruh.
The Franconian Marienweg runs past Kunigundenruh .
