history

The place name Naisa (originally: Neysen ) is probably of Slavic origin. The development of the settlement is therefore assumed to be around the year 600 and should mean “ the people living below ”. Naisa is first mentioned in a document from Bishop Arnold von Bamberg from June 7, 1293. In 1461 a chaplain was set up in Naisa. Until 1803 Naisa belonged to the bishopric of Bamberg when it fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria as part of the secularization . From 1818 to 1834, Naisa formed a community together with Pödeldorf, now also a district of Litzendorf. In the middle of the 20th century , Naisa changed from an agricultural village to a place of residence for commuters to nearby Bamberg. On May 1, 1978 Naisa was integrated into the newly created community of Litzendorf.

Culture and infrastructure

Naisa has a kindergarten, the volunteer fire brigade and with the ASV Naisa 1928 its own sports club. The place has three listed wayside shrines . The oldest dates back to 1350 and is considered the oldest wayside shrine in Franconia .
