history

After the Russian victory in the Russo-Turkish War of 1787–1792 , the governor of Yekaterinoslav left 6,000 acres of land at the mouth of the Balaj River to the head of the chancellery of Alexander Suvorov and then Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Onufrijewitsch Kuris ( Иван Онуфриевич Иван Онуфриевич ; 17Кур18с36 ) . In 1787 the Church of the Intercession was built. Kuris settled serfs from his lands in the Ukraine. In 1795 the village had a population of 975 people. Kuris called the settlement Balaj , which later bore the name Pokrowsky ( Покровськи ) and from 1851 the name Kurissowo-Pokrowsky ( Курісово-Покровськи ).

In 1810 Kuris began building a property. Over the next 10 years, a mansion was built in the form of a medieval castle in the Moorish style with elements of Gothic architecture, which is now known as the Kuryssov Estate ( Усадьба Курисов Ussadba Kuryssow ) and is an architectural monument of national importance. In 1861 the first public school and in 1872 a hospital opened in the village. In the years 1891/92 a west wing was added to the Kuryssow estate by the grandson of the builder Ivan Iraklijowytsch Kuris . In addition, the property received a library, a ceremonial hall without windows with ceiling lighting, a semicircular terrace as well as living and utility rooms.

During the October Revolution , the property was partially destroyed by the villagers in 1917. In 1921 the village was renamed Petrivske ( Петрівське ) in honor of Grigory Petrovsky , and in 1937 the village was named Petrivka ( Петрівка ). During the Second World War , the village was occupied by Romania between August 1941 and April 4, 1944 . In the process of de-communization in Ukraine the village was 2016 Petriwka in Kurissowe renamed.
