The Kurt von Marval School Community School Nordheim is a community school in Nordheim , a municipality in the Heilbronn district . Around 340 pupils currently attend the Kurt von Marval School.

history

There has been a school in Nordheim since 1560 . This was directed by the church. Lessons took place in the sacristan's house, where the schoolmaster also lived. This had to perform the sacristan service at the same time. Because there was no compulsory schooling at that time , more children attended school in winter than in summer. From 1791 the school had to be held in the town hall for about ten years because the sacristan's house was dilapidated. The community later demolished the house and a new building was erected. When the number of pupils grew steadily towards the end of the 19th century, the community couldn't avoid expanding the school. The plan was to build a new school building next to the old school building. The demolition of three smaller properties made this possible. In 1901 the new building was inaugurated.

In 1924 a sixth teaching position was added. With the introduction of the eight-year school and the additional handicraft lessons for the girls , the school again reached its limits. Only five rooms were available for seven classes. An extension was out of the question because there was no space for it. That is why an additional school building with three classrooms was built in Südstrasse, which was inaugurated on February 11, 1928. Now the school activities in Nordheim took place in separate rooms. Just ten years later, another expansion was necessary. Another classroom and a workroom in the basement were built on Südstrasse . The construction work lasted until 1939/1940 due to delays. In 1950 the deficiencies in the main street school were very great. For example, the toilet facilities , the playground and the stairs were in very poor condition. Another problem was the increasing traffic on the main road. The handicraft lessons found a new location in the newly built gymnasium and festival hall in 1955. This room was used as an emergency classroom until the 2000/01 school year. Construction work on the new school building in Geißbühl began in June 1962. On December 1, 1962, the school was officially inaugurated. But when the 9th grade was introduced at the secondary school in 1967, there was a lack of space in Nordheim's school history - as has so often happened before.

After a few years, the students were accommodated in makeshift rooms in the new building, for example in the old town hall, in the Südstrasse kindergarten, in the fire department classroom and in the gymnasium and festival hall. When the official question arose as to whether the Nordheim secondary school should be retained or whether the pupils should better go to the neighboring towns of Leingarten and Lauffen am Neckar , a second wing of the building was built from April 1972 to create the conditions for an orderly school operation . It was completed on November 12, 1972. The school on Südstrasse was completely converted into a kindergarten in 1973 . The growth of the community, but also the changes in teaching, led in 1998 to the construction of another building next to the old main school building. In this building, which was completed in 2001, there is a technical room, a visual arts room, a computer room , three classrooms and the auditorium .

Naming

The Kurt von Marval School is named after Kurt von Marval . He was an honorary citizen of the Nordheim community and a descendant of the respected and wealthy Seybold family. Kurt von Marval provided money and building land for the community to build the school and gym. His foundation supports the school to this day. B. bought the school computer from her. The school has had his name since November 12, 1980.

Future of school

Since the 2013 school year, the school has been a community school , in which newly admitted pupils learn together longer in a full-day school and are taught in heterogeneous learning groups.

Furnishing

The Kurt von Marval School is equipped with 16 classrooms as well as a physics room, school kitchen, technical room, computer room, art classroom and an auditorium. After the decision of the community school, enlargements of the school building were planned in order to be able to offer the capacity for more students. With a ceremony on October 7, 2016 and an open house on October 9, 2016, the new rooms in the converted school buildings were inaugurated for the 2016/2017 school year.
