Kurt Mayer (film producer)

Kurt Mayer (born March 22, 1951 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film producer , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Kurt Mayer studied psychology , sociology and art history at the University of Vienna. During his studies he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Psychology at the University of Vienna and began working in film, initially as an outfitter and camera assistant . He also took part in theater performances . From 1973 to 1987 Mayer worked as a camera assistant and sound engineer for NHK , ZDF and ARD in Central and Eastern Europe. He was also with Klaus Pinter from Haus-Rucker-Inc. active as a photographer. This collaboration led to joint exhibitions in the Palais Clam-Gallas and in the Museum of Modern Art in the Palais Liechtenstein .

Kurt Mayer has been an independent film producer and director since 1983, working with the production company Epo-Film for many years . His first work as a film director was waking up in 1985 about the cast of the Hainburger Au . In 1995 he founded his own film production company, kurt mayer film , with which he produces business , documentary and feature films for cinema, television and the Internet. In 1997, he had film recordings of the fire at the Palace of Justice in Vienna , shot by his father Rudi Mayer, projected onto the facade of the Palace of Justice , while a live concert by Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber from Berlin was broadcast over the Internet .

Mayer is chairman of the umbrella association of Austrian filmmakers and a founding member of the Academy of Austrian Films .
